| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the North Texas Commission, which is celebrating 50 |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | years of civic advocacy, education, and collaboration in the |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Established in 1971, the North Texas Commission |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | was chartered as a nonprofit corporation to help develop and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | market the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport and the |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | greater North Texas region; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Members of the commission copyrighted the term |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | "Metroplex" as a regional marketing moniker in 1972, and they |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | continued to represent the interests of the region after the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | airport opened in 1974; over the years, the commission has played |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | an integral role in vital regional developments in such areas as |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | public transportation, air quality, and water resources; in |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | 2009, the organization launched Leadership North Texas, which |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | has brought together the talents of emerging regional leaders who |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | have gone on to become esteemed regional advocates; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Today, the North Texas Commission helps address |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | the region's greatest challenges through the work of experts |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | serving in both staff and board roles; these dedicated |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | professionals provide resources to help market the region and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | create a unified plan for advocacy at the state and federal |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | levels; all who contribute to the success of the North Texas |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Commission can reflect with pride on the organization's |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | exemplary service in the Metroplex; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby recognize the members, |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | staff, and partners of the North Texas Commission for their |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | commitment to service to the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex and for |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | helping to ensure that North Texas remains an excellent place in |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | which to live and do business; and, be it further |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |

| 34 | 34 | | the commission as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
