| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the Bay City Regional Airport, which was selected for |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | the 2021 General Aviation Airport of the Year Award by the Texas |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | Department of Transportation Aviation Division; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Nearly a decade ago, new plans for the Bay City |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Regional Airport were developed, and an era of restoration and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | modernization began that has transformed the small-town aviation |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | center into a highway for commerce in the community; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Upgrades to the long-neglected site started with |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | a massive airfield pavement rehabilitation project and continued |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | with administrative updates, a refreshed terminal, and the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | creation of an Emergency Plan; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Through the use of local funds, the airport was |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | able to construct an 11-unit t-hangar, and with help from the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | city and Aviation Division, the perimeter fencing was upgraded; |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | grant funding from the United States Federal Emergency |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Management Agency has enabled the airport to continue operations |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | during power outages; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, The Bay City Regional Airport is continuing its |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | era of growth by partnering with the Texas Department of |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Transportation to establish new taxiways and improve drainage; |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | all who have contributed to the success of the airport can |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | reflect with pride on their many accomplishments; now, |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby recognize all who have |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | played a role in the renovation of the Bay City Regional Airport |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | on their commitment to facility improvement and excellence in |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | service and extend congratulations to them on the airport's 2021 |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | General Aviation Airport of the Year Award; and, be it further |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | the airport as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
