2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, Sergeant Gregg A. Greer is retiring from the Texas |

3 | 3 | | Highway Patrol in Marshall on August 31, 2021, drawing to a close |

4 | 4 | | an exemplary career in law enforcement that has spanned nearly 28 |
---|
5 | 5 | | years; and |
---|
6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University |
---|
7 | 7 | | with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice, Sergeant Greer |
---|
8 | 8 | | first joined the Texas Department of Public Safety in 1994; as a |
---|
9 | 9 | | member of the Texas Highway Patrol, he became involved in |
---|
10 | 10 | | accident reconstruction and was eventually promoted to head of |
---|
11 | 11 | | the Tyler district crash reconstruction team; over the years, he |
---|
12 | 12 | | has responded to major incidents involving natural disasters, |
---|
13 | 13 | | crowd management situations, and border operations, and he has |
---|
14 | 14 | | provided expert testimony on vehicle crashes in multiple East |
---|
15 | 15 | | Texas counties; moreover, he has embraced his role as a |
---|
16 | 16 | | supervisor for troopers in Harrison and Marion Counties, and he |
---|
17 | 17 | | has further served his agency by teaching courses on firearms, |
---|
18 | 18 | | crash investigation, and crash reconstruction; and |
---|
19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Sergeant Greer was named a recipient of the |
---|
20 | 20 | | Outstanding Rookie award by the Texas Conference of Police and |
---|
21 | 21 | | Sheriffs in 1995, and he went on to be recognized with the Merit |
---|
22 | 22 | | Law Enforcement Award in 1999 and with two District Service |
---|
23 | 23 | | Commander's Awards in 2002 and 2004; committed to his |
---|
24 | 24 | | professional development, he has also attained his master peace |
---|
25 | 25 | | officer certification, as well as numerous other advanced |
---|
26 | 26 | | credentials; and |
---|
27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Gregg Greer's expertise, professionalism, and |
---|
28 | 28 | | dedication to the core values of the Department of Public Safety |
---|
29 | 29 | | have greatly benefited the citizens of Texas and earned him the |
---|
30 | 30 | | respect and admiration of his fellow officers, and he may indeed |
---|
31 | 31 | | reflect with pride on a career well spent as he embarks on the |
---|
32 | 32 | | next exciting chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it |
---|
33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
---|
34 | 34 | | Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate Sergeant |

35 | 35 | | Gregg A. Greer on his retirement from the Texas Highway Patrol in |
