22 WHEREAS, Lieutenant Colonel Randall B. Prince is retiring
33 from the Texas Department of Public Safety on August 31, 2021,
44 drawing to a close an outstanding career in law enforcement that
55 has spanned more than three decades; and
66 WHEREAS, This veteran peace officer first joined DPS in
77 October 1988, and he was commissioned as a highway patrol officer
88 in Navasota the following year; he went on to serve with the Motor
99 Vehicle Theft unit in Conroe, and in 1997 he was promoted to the
1010 Texas Rangers; rising steadily through the ranks, he served the
1111 rangers as a lieutenant in Houston and, at the rank of captain and
1212 major, as commander of the ranger company in Lubbock; and
1313 WHEREAS, In 2011, Lieutenant Colonel Prince was promoted
1414 to regional director in Lubbock, where he was responsible for all
1515 DPS operations in the 70-county region of West Texas and the
1616 Panhandle, and from October 2014 until July 2018, he was the
1717 chief of the Texas Rangers, overseeing the investigation of major
1818 crimes, officer-involved shooting incidents, and public
1919 integrity crimes as well as border security operations and the
2020 apprehension of fugitives; since 2018, he has served as the DPS
2121 deputy director for law enforcement operations; and
2222 WHEREAS, Randy Prince earned his bachelor's degree in
2323 criminal justice from Texas State University, and he is also a
2424 graduate of the FBI National Academy and the Governor's Executive
2525 Development Program; he is certified as a master peace officer; and
2626 WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Prince has enjoyed the
2727 love and support of his wife, Karen, and his two children, Morgan
2828 Prince and Travis Sterling; and
2929 WHEREAS, Randy Prince's dedication, expertise, and
3030 commitment to preserving the peace have greatly benefited the
3131 people of Texas and earned him the respect and admiration of his
3232 fellow officers, and he may indeed reflect with pride on a career
3333 well spent as he embarks upon the next exciting chapter of his
3434 life; now, therefore, be it
3535 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
3636 Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate Lieutenant
3737 Colonel Randall B. Prince on his retirement from the Texas
3838 Department of Public Safety and extend to him sincere best wishes
3939 for continued happiness; and, be it further
4040 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
4141 prepared for Lieutenant Colonel Prince as an expression of high
4242 regard from the Texas Senate.
