2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, Lieutenant Colonel Randall B. Prince is retiring |

3 | 3 | | from the Texas Department of Public Safety on August 31, 2021, |

4 | 4 | | drawing to a close an outstanding career in law enforcement that |
---|
5 | 5 | | has spanned more than three decades; and |
---|
6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, This veteran peace officer first joined DPS in |
---|
7 | 7 | | October 1988, and he was commissioned as a highway patrol officer |
---|
8 | 8 | | in Navasota the following year; he went on to serve with the Motor |
---|
9 | 9 | | Vehicle Theft unit in Conroe, and in 1997 he was promoted to the |
---|
10 | 10 | | Texas Rangers; rising steadily through the ranks, he served the |
---|
11 | 11 | | rangers as a lieutenant in Houston and, at the rank of captain and |
---|
12 | 12 | | major, as commander of the ranger company in Lubbock; and |
---|
13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, In 2011, Lieutenant Colonel Prince was promoted |
---|
14 | 14 | | to regional director in Lubbock, where he was responsible for all |
---|
15 | 15 | | DPS operations in the 70-county region of West Texas and the |
---|
16 | 16 | | Panhandle, and from October 2014 until July 2018, he was the |
---|
17 | 17 | | chief of the Texas Rangers, overseeing the investigation of major |
---|
18 | 18 | | crimes, officer-involved shooting incidents, and public |
---|
19 | 19 | | integrity crimes as well as border security operations and the |
---|
20 | 20 | | apprehension of fugitives; since 2018, he has served as the DPS |
---|
21 | 21 | | deputy director for law enforcement operations; and |
---|
22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Randy Prince earned his bachelor's degree in |
---|
23 | 23 | | criminal justice from Texas State University, and he is also a |
---|
24 | 24 | | graduate of the FBI National Academy and the Governor's Executive |
---|
25 | 25 | | Development Program; he is certified as a master peace officer; and |
---|
26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Prince has enjoyed the |
---|
27 | 27 | | love and support of his wife, Karen, and his two children, Morgan |
---|
28 | 28 | | Prince and Travis Sterling; and |
---|
29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Randy Prince's dedication, expertise, and |
---|
30 | 30 | | commitment to preserving the peace have greatly benefited the |
---|
31 | 31 | | people of Texas and earned him the respect and admiration of his |
---|
32 | 32 | | fellow officers, and he may indeed reflect with pride on a career |
---|
33 | 33 | | well spent as he embarks upon the next exciting chapter of his |
---|
34 | 34 | | life; now, therefore, be it |

35 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
---|
36 | 36 | | Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby congratulate Lieutenant |

37 | 37 | | Colonel Randall B. Prince on his retirement from the Texas |

38 | 38 | | Department of Public Safety and extend to him sincere best wishes |
