44 SENATE RESOLUTION
55 WHEREAS, The life of a highly respected civic leader drew
66 to a close with the passing of Kenneth Duncan Dickson of Rockwall
77 on August 19, 2021, at the age of 82; and
88 WHEREAS, The son of Kenneth and Trixie Dickson, Ken
99 Dickson was born on December 29, 1938, and grew up in Dallas; he
1010 graduated from W. W. Samuell High School in 1957 and earned a
1111 bachelor's degree in business and agriculture from East Texas
1212 State University; answering his nation's call to duty, he served
1313 in the U.S. Army and with the 49th Armored Division of the Army
1414 National Guard; and
1515 WHEREAS, Active with local politics for more than 40
1616 years, Mr. Dickson was a founding member of the Rockwall County
1717 Republican Men's Club, serving two terms as president and
1818 continuing as a member of the executive committee until his
1919 death; furthermore, he was a precinct chair, an election judge,
2020 and a delegate to Republican state conventions; he worked in
2121 support of U.S. Representative Ralph Hall's election campaigns,
2222 and he received the Ralph M. Hall Chairman's Award for a lifetime
2323 of service to the Republican Party; in recognition of
2424 Mr. Dickson's achievements, a street was named after him in
2525 Rockwall, where he was on the city council for four years; and
2626 WHEREAS, Mr. Dickson was a founding member and president
2727 of the North American Tuli Association and a co-owner of the Tuli
2828 cattle breed magazine, and he cherished the time he spent caring
2929 for his own cattle; in the 1980s, he began working in the oil and
3030 gas industry, and at the age of 82, he had no plans to retire;
3131 since 2005, he had served as a member of the Interstate Oil and
3232 Gas Compact Commission; and
3333 WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Dickson enjoyed the
3434 love and support of his wife of 44 years, Judith; he was the
3535 devoted father of two children, Kenneth and Jason, and he
3636 treasured his four grandchildren; a committed Christian, he was a
3737 valued congregant of Lakepointe Church, where he was a longtime
3838 volunteer at the Connection Center; and
3939 WHEREAS, Admired for his strong faith, his magnanimous
4040 personality, and his dedication to his fellow citizens, Ken
4141 Dickson lived a caring and purposeful life, and he leaves behind
4242 a record of service that his loved ones can remember with pride;
4343 now, therefore, be it
4444 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 87th Texas Legislature,
4545 2nd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Kenneth
4646 Duncan Dickson and extend heartfelt sympathy to the members of
4747 his family: to his wife, Judith Dion Dickson; to his sons,
4848 Kenneth Dickson and his wife, Lynne, and Jason Dickson and his
4949 wife, Lauren; to his grandchildren, Abigail Peavey and her
5050 husband, Rafe, and Macy, Cohen, and Savannah Dickson; and to his
5151 many other relatives and friends; and, be it further
5252 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
5353 prepared for his family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns
5454 this day, it do so in memory of Ken Dickson.
