| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | join Vanguard Academy in honoring the lives of those who |

| 4 | 4 | | tragically died during the September 11, 2001, attacks on our |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | country; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, On that infamous day, 2,983 innocent people died |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | in what remains the deadliest act of terrorism in United States |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | history; the unprecedented attacks in New York City, at the |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Pentagon, and in Pennsylvania left the world in a state of shock |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | and united our country's citizens in collective grief; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Vanguard Academy in Pharr is hosting a |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Remembrance Ceremony on September 11, 2021, to pay tribute to |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | those who died 20 years ago and to honor our nation's first |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | responders; memorial poems will be recited and local first |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | responders who stand ready to protect and serve today will be |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | given recognition; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Vanguard Academy students are creating a field of |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | flags in remembrance of each of the 9/11 fallen heroes; the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | memorial event is a public ceremony and attendants will include |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | the school's students, teachers, administrators, and staff, as |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | well as first responders, veterans, and members of the community; |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commend Vanguard Academy |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | for hosting a 20th Anniversary of September 11, 2001, Remembrance |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Ceremony and ask that citizens across the state join in |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | observance of this solemn anniversary; and, be it further |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | honor of the Vanguard Academy memorial event. |
