| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | commemorates the life of Margaret McLeod Hunter, who died |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | February 10, 2021, at the age of 96; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Margaret Hunter was born on September 17, 1924, in |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Sumter, South Carolina; she graduated in 1941 from Sumter High |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | School, and she earned a degree from the University of South |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Carolina in 1945; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, She married her beloved husband of 65 years, the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | late Samuel Marvin Hunter Jr., in December of 1946, and the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | couple was blessed with four children; their 13 grandchildren and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | seven great-grandchildren were a source of much pride and joy for |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | her; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, A devout Christian who practiced her faith in her |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | daily life, she was a longtime member of First Presbyterian |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Church of Sumter, where she served as a deacon and an elder; her |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | other community activities included a 70-year membership in the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Mother-Daughter Book Club; she was a founding member of Les Coeur |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Cognes, and she served as president of the Sumter Junior Welfare |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | League; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, A woman of wisdom, grace, and generosity, she was |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | devoted to her family and to her many friends, and she leaves |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | behind memories that will be treasured forever by all who were |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | privileged to share in her life; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby extend sincere |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | condolences to the bereaved family of Margaret McLeod Hunter; |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | and, be it further |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
