44 SENATE RESOLUTION
55 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
66 recognize the Brownsville Chamber of Commerce on the occasion of
77 its 84th anniversary; and
88 WHEREAS, The Brownsville Chamber of Commerce was
99 officially incorporated in July of 1937; the incorporation
1010 brought to fruition efforts that took place as early as 1914 in a
1111 meeting of area businessmen; the organization was founded to
1212 acquire, preserve, and disseminate valuable business
1313 information, to promote the interests of trade, and to increase
1414 the facilities for commercial transactions; and
1515 WHEREAS, Through the years, the chamber's initiatives have
1616 been a catalyst for a wide range of community improvements and
1717 for the creation of numerous events and organizations; the
1818 chamber had a role in establishing Charro Days, the Sombrero
1919 Festival, the Mr. Amigo Association, Leadership Brownsville,
2020 Brownsville Crime Stoppers, and Healthy Communities of
2121 Brownsville; and
2222 WHEREAS, The chamber has also provided invaluable support
2323 for such institutions as Texas Southmost College, the Port of
2424 Brownsville, the Brownsville South Padre Island International
2525 Airport, and the Brownsville Economic Development Council; the
2626 organization has received numerous awards for its marketing and
2727 communications and earned first place in digital media for the
2828 recent Dear Brownsville COVID-19 commercial spot; and
2929 WHEREAS, For 84 years, the Brownsville Chamber of Commerce
3030 has been the city's leading advocate for business, and it is
3131 truly deserving of special recognition for its positive impact on
3232 the community; now, therefore, be it
3333 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
3434 Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commend the Brownsville
3535 Chamber of Commerce on its many contributions to the growth and
3636 prosperity of Brownsville and extend to its members best wishes
3737 for continued success; and, be it further
3838 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
3939 the chamber as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
