2	2	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
3	3	recognize the nuclear energy research and work by Natura
4	4	Resources LLC; Abilene Christian University; and NEXTRA, the
5	5	Nuclear Energy eXperimental Testing Research Alliance, a
6	6	consortium of Abilene Christian University, The University of
7	7	Texas, Texas A&M University, and Georgia Tech; and
8	8	WHEREAS, Natura Resources LLC, Abilene Christian
9	9	University, and NEXTRA have proposed a molten salt research
10	10	reactor to be located at Abilene Christian University; and
11	11	WHEREAS, The molten salt research reactor is the first step
12	12	to the research, development, and deployment of commercial
13	13	molten salt reactors, which enable the production of safe,
14	14	reliable electricity free of carbon emissions; molten salt
15	15	reactors also provide medical-quality isotopes used in the
16	16	treatment of cancer and allow for the transformation of
17	17	non-potable water into drinking water; and
18	18	WHEREAS, Texas serves as a leader in all forms of energy in
19	19	the United States and throughout the world, and through the
20	20	support of research, development, and commercial deployment of
21	21	energy technology, Texas continues to succeed in energy
22	22	leadership; and
23	23	WHEREAS, The proposed molten salt research reactor at
24	24	Abilene Christian University will facilitate the creation of
25	25	safe and reliable carbon-free electricity and allow for new
26	26	drinking water sources, in addition to providing important
27	27	contributions to the field of medicine and cancer treatment; now,
28	28	therefore, be it
29	29	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
30	30	Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby commend Natura Resources
31	31	LLC, Abilene Christian University, and NEXTRA on their important
32	32	research and work and extend best wishes for success in their
33	33	endeavors; and, be it further
34	34	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
35	35	Natura Resources LLC, Abilene Christian University, and NEXTRA
36	36	as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
