77 relating to the eligibility of certain events for funding under the
88 Major Events Reimbursement Program.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Sections 478.0001(3) and (7), Government Code,
1111 as amended by Chapters 10 (H.B. 1472), 102 (S.B. 1265), 605 (S.B.
1212 1155), and 915 (H.B. 3607), Acts of the 87th Legislature, Regular
1313 Session, 2021, are reenacted and amended to read as follows:
1414 (3) "Event" means any of the following and includes
1515 any activity related to or associated with the following:
1616 (A) the Academy of Country Music Awards;
1717 (B) the Amateur Athletic Union Junior Olympic
1818 Games;
1919 (C) a Big 12 Football Conference Championship
2020 game;
2121 (D) the Breeders' Cup World Championships;
2222 (E) a game of the College Football Playoff or its
2323 successor;
2424 (F) the Confederation of North, Central America
2525 and Caribbean Association Football (Concacaf) Gold Cup;
2626 (G) [(F)] a CONVRG conference;
2727 (H) [(G)] an Elite Rodeo Association World
2828 Championship;
2929 (I) the [(H) a] Formula One United States Grand
3030 Prix [automobile race];
3131 (J) [(I)] the largest event held each year at a
3232 sports entertainment venue in this state with a permanent seating
3333 capacity, including grandstand and premium seating, of at least
3434 125,000 on September 1, 2021;

3737 (L) [(K)] the Major League Soccer All-Star Game

104104 (I) [(H)] the Elite Rodeo Association;

144144 SECTION 2. Section 478.0053, Government Code, is amended to
145145 read as follows:
146146 Sec. 478.0053. EXEMPTION FROM CERTAIN ELIGIBILITY
147147 REQUIREMENT FOR CERTAIN LARGE EVENTS [VENUES]. Section
148148 478.0051(b)(1) does not apply to an event described by Section
149149 478.0001(3)(J) or (FF) [478.0001(3)(H)]. If an endorsing
150150 municipality or endorsing county requests the office to make a
151151 determination under Section 478.0102 for an event described by
152152 Section 478.0001(3)(J) or (FF) [478.0001(3)(H)], the remaining
153153 provisions of this chapter apply to that event as if the event
154154 satisfied the eligibility requirements under Section
155155 478.0051(b)(1).
156156 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
157157 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
158158 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
159159 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
160160 Act takes effect on the 91st day after the last day of the
161161 legislative session.
