9 | 9 | | BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

10 | 10 | | SECTION 1. Section 24, Article III, Texas Constitution, is |
---|
11 | 11 | | amended by adding Subsection (d) to read as follows: |

12 | 12 | | (d) Notwithstanding Subsections (a) and (c) of this |
---|
13 | 13 | | section, a member of the legislature is not entitled to receive any |
---|
14 | 14 | | salary, per diem, or reimbursement for mileage to which the member |
---|
15 | 15 | | would otherwise be entitled for any period during which the member |
---|
16 | 16 | | is absent unexcused and the house of the legislature of which the |
---|
17 | 17 | | person is a member lacks a quorum to do business. |

18 | 18 | | SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be |
---|
19 | 19 | | submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 8, 2022. |
---|
20 | 20 | | The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the |
---|
21 | 21 | | proposition: "The constitutional amendment providing that members |
---|
22 | 22 | | of the legislature are not entitled to receive a state salary, per |
---|
23 | 23 | | diem, or reimbursement for mileage for an unexcused absence when |
---|
24 | 24 | | the applicable house of the legislature lacks a quorum." |
