44 A JOINT RESOLUTION
55 proposing a constitutional amendment providing that members of the
66 legislature are not entitled to receive a state salary, per diem, or
77 reimbursement for mileage for an unexcused absence when the
88 applicable house of the legislature lacks a quorum.
99 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 24, Article III, Texas Constitution, is
1111 amended by adding Subsection (d) to read as follows:
1212 (d) Notwithstanding Subsections (a) and (c) of this
1313 section, a member of the legislature is not entitled to receive any
1414 salary, per diem, or reimbursement for mileage to which the member
1515 would otherwise be entitled for any period during which the member
1616 is absent unexcused and the house of the legislature of which the
1717 person is a member lacks a quorum to do business.
1818 SECTION 2. This proposed constitutional amendment shall be
1919 submitted to the voters at an election to be held November 8, 2022.
2020 The ballot shall be printed to permit voting for or against the
2121 proposition: "The constitutional amendment providing that members
2222 of the legislature are not entitled to receive a state salary, per
2323 diem, or reimbursement for mileage for an unexcused absence when
2424 the applicable house of the legislature lacks a quorum."
