| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, This much-anticipated event is held in honor of |

| 10 | 11 | | esteemed member of Alpha Phi Alpha; proceeds from the breakfast |

| 11 | 12 | | benefit local high school students through the Nu Pi Lambda |

| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Founded in 1906, Alpha Phi Alpha is one of the first |

| 14 | 15 | | intercollegiate Greek-letter fraternities established for African |

| 15 | 16 | | Americans; its members work tirelessly to promote academic |

| 16 | 17 | | excellence and to correct injustices faced by African American |

| 18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, The Nu Pi Lambda Chapter was chartered on March 27, |

| 19 | 20 | | 1981, to serve Arlington and the surrounding cities within the |

| 20 | 21 | | Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex; among its many accolades, Nu Pi Lambda |

| 21 | 22 | | has been named the Texas and Southwestern Regional Chapter of the |

| 22 | 23 | | Year; and |

| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, For four decades, The Nu Pi Lambda Chapter of Alpha |

| 24 | 25 | | Phi Alpha Fraternity has played an important role in the lives of |

| 25 | 26 | | its members and the wider community, and the organization's |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | dedication to helping young people achieve their educational goals |

| 27 | 28 | | is indeed deserving of recognition; now, therefore, be it |

| 28 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
