| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Texas Business Women of San Antonio is celebrating |

| 6 | 7 | | its 100th anniversary in 2021 and 2022, and this represents a |

| 7 | 8 | | fitting opportunity to pay tribute to the organization's many |

| 8 | 9 | | contributions; and |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Originally known as Business and Professional Women |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | of San Antonio, the group was founded in the early 1920s at the |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | St. Anthony Hotel by 50 women representing 31 different |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | professions, at a time when few such organizations existed for |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | women; from the start, the organization has sought to foster mutual |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | support and fellowship among professional women while also |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | providing training and creating opportunities for future |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | generations of women in the San Antonio area, whether they are |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | business owners, employed by someone else, self-employed, or |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | transitioning into or out of the workforce; and |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Over the years, TBW of San Antonio has helped women |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | grow their careers through education and community outreach; it has |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | mentored middle school girls and tutored women in public speaking |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | skills through its Communicating with Confidence program, and in |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | 1972, the organization advocated for the passage of the Equal |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | Rights Amendment to the Texas Constitution; the group has also |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | generously contributed to area nonprofits, purchased school |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | supplies for students, and helped organize holiday celebrations for |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | senior citizens; and |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Since its inception, TBW of San Antonio has |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | supported countless women in their professional endeavors, and its |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | members may indeed take great pride in their outstanding record of |

| 31 | 32 | | achievement; now, therefore, be it |

| 32 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

| 33 | 34 | | Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commemorate the centennial |

| 34 | 35 | | of Texas Business Women of San Antonio and extend to all those |

| 35 | 36 | | associated with the organization sincere best wishes for continued |

| 36 | 37 | | success in their important work; and, be it further |
