| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Mary E. Boesen is retiring as president of Loretto |

| 6 | 7 | | Academy in El Paso, drawing to a close an outstanding tenure that |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, "Buffy" Boesen first joined Loretto Academy in 2000, |

| 9 | 10 | | and her vision and leadership have since been instrumental in |

| 10 | 11 | | furthering the school's mission of developing well-rounded leaders |

| 11 | 12 | | with a focus on academic achievement and on the values of faith, |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | community, justice, and respect; under her guidance, the school has |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | introduced a number of new initiatives, including the Challenge |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | Program, which provides scholarships and other resources for gifted |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | students from low-income families; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Boesen previously served as a teacher in |

| 17 | 18 | | Colorado, Kentucky, and Iowa and as a community organizer with the |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | All Families Deserve a Chance Coalition; she holds a master's |

| 19 | 20 | | degree in social work; and |

| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Through her dedication, professionalism, and |

| 21 | 22 | | commitment to excellence, Buffy Boesen has earned the lasting |

| 22 | 23 | | respect and admiration of her colleagues and the countless young |

| 23 | 24 | | Texans whose lives she has forever enriched; now, therefore, be it |

| 24 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
