| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the |

| 6 | 7 | | passing of Louis Guerra Gonzaba Sr. of San Antonio on September 14, |

| 7 | 8 | | 2021, at the age of 89; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Louis Gonzaba was the son of Mike and Janie Gonzaba, |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | and he grew up with the companionship of three siblings, Mary, |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | Bertha, and Mike; he graduated from Central Catholic High School in |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | 1949 and went on to attend St. Mary's University; answering his |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | nation's call to duty, he joined the U.S. Army, serving in Germany |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | and the United States before being honorably discharged at the rank |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | of sergeant; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, In civilian life, Mr. Gonzaba worked in retail |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | construction with City Lumber, Alamo Enterprises, Jones Blair Paint |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | Company, and Acme Lumber; he earned the esteem of many independent |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | builders by helping them to read and draw up plans and to calculate |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | materials needs; and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Above all else, Mr. Gonzaba was devoted to his wife, |

| 21 | 22 | | Olga, with whom he shared a fulfilling union that spanned 64 years; |

| 22 | 23 | | he took great pride in his children, Deborah and Louis, and with the |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | passing years, he had the pleasure of seeing his family grow to |

| 24 | 25 | | include five grandchildren, Melissa, Jennifer, Sheena, Louis, and |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | Joey, seven great-grandchildren, Brandon, Jayden, Juliana, Jarren, |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | Alyssa, Avery, and Mateo, and three great-great-grandchildren, |

| 27 | 28 | | Aubrey, Ariya, and Jace; Mr. Gonzaba delighted in time spent with |

| 28 | 29 | | his loved ones and especially enjoyed showing off his impressive |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | dance moves at family reunions; and |

| 30 | 31 | | WHEREAS, Although Louis Gonzaba is deeply missed, those who |

| 31 | 32 | | held him dear will forever remember the warmth and kindness he |

| 32 | 33 | | brought into their lives; now, therefore, be it |

| 33 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

| 34 | 35 | | Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of |

| 35 | 36 | | Louis Guerra Gonzaba Sr. and extend sincere condolences to all who |
