| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the |

| 6 | 7 | | passing of Leonel Rios Sr. of Taft on August 9, 2021, at the age of |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The son of Fernando and Carolina Rios, Leo Rios was |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | born in Kingsville on October 15, 1933, and he grew up with the |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | companionship of a brother, Domingo; as a young boy, he moved with |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | his family to Gregory and went on to graduate from Gregory High |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | School; and |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Rios enjoyed a successful career as a purchasing |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | agent and manager in the electronics industry, and he eventually |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | became the owner and operator of International Electronics in |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | Corpus Christi; in addition, he benefited his community as a board |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | member for the Gregory-Portland Independent School District, and he |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | often served as master of ceremonies for weddings and quinceañeras; |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Above all else, Mr. Rios was a devoted husband to |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | his wife, Margarita, with whom he shared a rewarding union that |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | spanned nearly 68 years; he took great pride in his eight children, |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | Leonel, Diana, Gracie, Jake, Raquel, Celia, Victoria, and Ben, and |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | with the passing years, he welcomed into his family 19 |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; a man of deep faith, he |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | was a lifelong congregant of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | in Gregory; and |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Although Leo Rios is deeply missed, this beloved man |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | has left his family and friends with many cherished memories, and he |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | will forever hold a treasured place in their hearts; now, |

| 31 | 32 | | therefore, be it |

| 32 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

| 33 | 34 | | Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of |

| 34 | 35 | | Leonel Rios Sr. and extend sincere condolences to all who mourn his |
