| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The 100th birthday of an esteemed Texan is indeed |

| 6 | 7 | | cause for celebration, and Jesse Homer Lackey of College Station is |

| 7 | 8 | | marking that special milestone on October 19, 2021; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Homer Lackey was born in Hamilton in 1921 to Jesse |

| 9 | 10 | | and Mary Lackey, and he grew up with the companionship of 11 |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | siblings; answering his nation's call to duty, he served in the U.S. |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | Army during World War II; he joined the 202nd Anti Aircraft |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | Artillery Battalion, and his overseas assignments included New |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | Guinea and the Philippines; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, In April 1942, Mr. Lackey married Doris Sybil Tharp, |

| 15 | 16 | | and the couple shared a rewarding union that spanned more than seven |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | and a half decades until her passing in 2018; today, he is the proud |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | patriarch of a fine family that has grown to include his 4 children, |

| 18 | 19 | | 9 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren; and |

| 19 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Lackey worked as a farmer and rancher near |

| 20 | 21 | | Muleshoe for many years, and he still enjoys raising tomatoes and |

| 21 | 22 | | maintaining his lawn; a man of deep faith, he has participated in |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | numerous activities with his church; and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Homer Lackey has witnessed a panorama of change over |

| 24 | 25 | | the course of a century, and he has met life's challenges and |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | opportunities with dignity and grace, earning the deep admiration |

| 26 | 27 | | of all who are privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it |
