56 WHEREAS, Cynthia Rios of Faulk Middle School in Brownsville
67 has been named a recipient of a 2021 Outstanding Teaching of the
78 Humanities Award from the Humanities Texas organization; and
89 WHEREAS, This prestigious accolade recognizes exemplary K-12
910 humanities teachers; each honoree is presented with a $5,000 cash
1011 prize plus an additional $1,000 to spend on instructional materials
1112 for students; and
1213 WHEREAS, Ms. Rios draws on eight years of experience as an
1314 educator and has taught reading at Faulk Middle School since 2018;
1415 she is highly regarded for her use of technology to develop her
1516 students' digital literacy and for designing lessons that bring
1617 real-life experiences into the classroom; and
1718 WHEREAS, Through her dedication, creativity, and enthusiasm,
1819 Cynthia Rios has distinguished herself as an educator of
1920 exceptional ability, and she is indeed deserving of this notable
2021 honor; now, therefore, be it
2122 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
2223 Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Cynthia Rios
2324 on receiving a 2021 Outstanding Teaching of the Humanities Award
2425 from Humanities Texas and extend to her sincere best wishes for
2526 continued success in her important work; and, be it further
2627 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2728 prepared for Ms. Rios as an expression of high regard by the Texas
2829 House of Representatives.
