| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories |

| 6 | 7 | | of Chantal Vessali of College Station, who passed away on October 5, |

| 7 | 8 | | 2021, at the age of 78; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The daughter of Gustave and Hélène Vial, the former |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | Chantal Vial was born in Annecy, France, on March 23, 1943, and she |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | grew up with the companionship of a sister, Michelle; she studied |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | art history in Florence, Italy, where she met her future husband, |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | Parviz Vessali, and the couple were later blessed with a daughter, |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | Elianor; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, After immigrating to the United States in 1967, |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | Mrs. Vessali established the French School in Houston to serve |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | French expatriate families who worked in the oil industry; in the |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | mid-1970s, she moved with her family to Iran and transferred |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | ownership of the school to the Mission Laïque Française; the school |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | eventually became the Awty International School; and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Soon after the start of the Iranian Revolution, the |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | Vessali family returned to Houston; Mrs. Vessali went on to teach |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | French at Lamar High School, and she later served as head of Lower |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | School and Pre-School at the Awty International School, where she |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | implemented a total immersion dual language program; and |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, While attending the University of Houston, |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | Mrs. Vessali worked part-time at Foley's, and her keen sense of |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | fashion earned her a job offer to become a floor model for the |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | department store; after the mid-1980s, she and her family relocated |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | to New York, and she accepted a position with Genny fashion house; |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | over the course of her career, she traveled throughout North |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | America to direct trunk shows and conduct fashion clinics; and |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | WHEREAS, The Vessali family ultimately settled in College |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | Station, where they have owned several rental properties; dedicated |
|---|
| 34 | 35 | | to conservative principles, Mrs. Vessali volunteered her time to |
|---|
| 35 | 36 | | recruit and support a number of political candidates; in her |
|---|
| 36 | 37 | | leisure hours, she enjoyed traveling to France, Switzerland, and |
|---|
| 37 | 38 | | Italy; and |
|---|
| 38 | 39 | | WHEREAS, Chantal Vessali lived a full and generous life |
|---|
| 39 | 40 | | surrounded by those she loved, and they will forever carry her close |
|---|
| 40 | 41 | | in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 41 | 42 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

| 42 | 43 | | Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory |

| 43 | 44 | | of Chantal Vessali and extend heartfelt sympathy to all who mourn |

| 44 | 45 | | her passing; and, be it further |

| 45 | 46 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
