| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The HEED Award recognizes those schools that |

| 9 | 10 | | demonstrate an outstanding commitment to diversity and inclusion |

| 10 | 11 | | through on-campus initiatives, programs, and outreach, as well as |

| 11 | 12 | | student recruitment and retention and hiring practices for faculty |

| 12 | 13 | | and staff; EPCC has earned the accolade for the ninth consecutive |

| 13 | 14 | | year and will be featured in the November 2021 issue of INSIGHT Into |

| 14 | 15 | | Diversity; and |

| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, A champion of inclusion and equity, EPCC fosters and |

| 16 | 17 | | promotes cultural awareness and respect among employees and |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | students and throughout the community at large; the college also |

| 18 | 19 | | works to eliminate educational disparities through its broad-based |

| 19 | 20 | | support of academic progress, degree completion, transfer, and |

| 20 | 21 | | gainful employment; and |

| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, By creating opportunities and providing resources |

| 22 | 23 | | for students from historically underrepresented backgrounds, EPCC |

| 23 | 24 | | is helping to expand access to higher education for area residents, |
