| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, All who shared in the life of Joseph Ralph Beatty |

| 6 | 7 | | were deeply saddened by his passing on September 29, 2021, at the |

| 7 | 8 | | age of 73; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The son of Ralph and Bonnie Beatty, Joe Beatty was |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | born in Greenville, Ohio, on October 18, 1947, and he grew up with |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | the companionship of two sisters, Elaine and Janet; he graduated |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | from Greenville High School and went on to receive a degree in |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | agronomy from Ohio State University; during his junior year, he |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | served as an aide to the speaker of the Ohio House of |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | Representatives; he subsequently embarked on a career in |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | agriculture and was later employed by a number of companies in the |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | energy sector, including Standard Oil; he also founded his own |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | firm, which co-manufactured products in Russia; and |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Active in his community, Mr. Beatty taught history |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | and science classes at Lone Star College's Academy for Lifelong |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | Learning, and he was a member of the Cypress-Fairbanks Independent |

| 21 | 22 | | School District Community Leadership Committee and the Texas War |

| 22 | 23 | | Memorial Board; he was also a valued congregant of Lakewood United |

| 23 | 24 | | Methodist Church, where he was involved in a variety of ministries |

| 24 | 25 | | and mission projects, including delivering medical supplies to |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | Haiti and Belize; moreover, he was a licensed pilot and flew the |

| 26 | 27 | | World War II B-25 Devil Dog for the Commemorative Air Force to air |

| 27 | 28 | | shows across the country; and |

| 28 | 29 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Beatty enjoyed the love |

| 29 | 30 | | and support of his wife, Patty, with whom he shared a rewarding |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | union that spanned more than five decades; he took great pride in |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | their two children, Jeb and the late Zachary Beatty, and with the |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | passing years, he had the pleasure of seeing his family grow to |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | include two grandchildren, Ursula and Clyde; and |
|---|
| 34 | 35 | | WHEREAS, While his loss is difficult to bear, Joe Beatty |

| 35 | 36 | | leaves behind numerous friends and loved ones whose lives are far |
|---|
| 36 | 37 | | richer for having known him, and he will always hold a treasured |

| 37 | 38 | | place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |

| 38 | 39 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

| 39 | 40 | | Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory |

| 40 | 41 | | of Joseph Ralph Beatty and extend sincere condolences to all who |

| 41 | 42 | | mourn his passing; and, be it further |

| 42 | 43 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
