| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Jesse Camarillo, a small business owner and a |

| 6 | 7 | | longtime volunteer, has greatly benefited his community through his |

| 7 | 8 | | commitment to a number of important causes; and |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Camarillo is the owner of Jesse's Home |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | Improvement, LLC, which has provided jobs to hundreds of people |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | throughout its 14 years in operation; along the way, he has also |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | served as a mentor to other aspiring entrepreneurs, and he has set |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | an example of good citizenship by giving back to his fellow |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | residents in many ways; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, A frequent volunteer for schools and churches in |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | Brownsville, Mr. Camarillo has organized fundraisers to ensure |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | that local children receive the school supplies that they need; he |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | has also been a supporter of helping individuals with criminal |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | records reintegrate into society, and he has further given |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | assistance to projects benefiting military veterans; and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, The preservation of parklands and native wildlife is |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | a cause that has been very close to Mr. Camarillo's heart; he has |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | volunteered more than 2,000 hours in behalf of the United States |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | Fish and Wildlife Service, during which he has monitored the native |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | ocelot population at Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge and |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | performed research on alligators, deer, and birds; he is also a |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | volunteer at the Palo Alto Battlefield National Historical Park, |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | where he worked with technical school students from Harlingen to |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | survey the battlefield, coordinated with National Parks |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | Conservation Association engineers to build a visitor center, and |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | served as a civilian project manager; and |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | WHEREAS, In addition to these endeavors, Mr. Camarillo has |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | been a longtime supporter of the Democratic Party, having |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | previously served as a campaign organizer for Bill Clinton in |
|---|
| 34 | 35 | | Hidalgo, Cameron, Willacy, and Starr Counties; he has volunteered |
|---|
| 35 | 36 | | for many other local campaigns, and his more recent achievements |
|---|
| 36 | 37 | | have included working on the campaign for Justice Luz Elena Chapa, |
|---|
| 37 | 38 | | who was elected to the Fourth Court of Appeals in 2013; and |
|---|
| 38 | 39 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Camarillo credits his parents, Castulo and |
|---|
| 39 | 40 | | Evangelia Camarillo, for teaching him the importance of |
|---|
| 40 | 41 | | perseverance and compassion toward others, and as a father, he has |
|---|
| 41 | 42 | | endeavored to pass these lessons down to his two sons, Ryan and |
|---|
| 42 | 43 | | Kevin; and |
|---|
| 43 | 44 | | WHEREAS, Jesse Camarillo has contributed to the betterment of |
|---|
| 44 | 45 | | his community and state through a lifetime of purposeful endeavor, |
|---|
| 45 | 46 | | and he has set an inspiring example of generosity and engagement for |
|---|
| 46 | 47 | | his fellow Texans to follow; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 47 | 48 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|---|
| 48 | 49 | | Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend Jesse Camarillo for |
|---|
| 49 | 50 | | his outstanding record of civic involvement and extend to him |
|---|
| 50 | 51 | | sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |

| 51 | 52 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
