45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Jesse Camarillo, a small business owner and a
67 longtime volunteer, has greatly benefited his community through his
78 commitment to a number of important causes; and
89 WHEREAS, Mr. Camarillo is the owner of Jesse's Home
910 Improvement, LLC, which has provided jobs to hundreds of people
1011 throughout its 14 years in operation; along the way, he has also
1112 served as a mentor to other aspiring entrepreneurs, and he has set
1213 an example of good citizenship by giving back to his fellow
1314 residents in many ways; and
1415 WHEREAS, A frequent volunteer for schools and churches in
1516 Brownsville, Mr. Camarillo has organized fundraisers to ensure
1617 that local children receive the school supplies that they need; he
1718 has also been a supporter of helping individuals with criminal
1819 records reintegrate into society, and he has further given
1920 assistance to projects benefiting military veterans; and
2021 WHEREAS, The preservation of parklands and native wildlife is
2122 a cause that has been very close to Mr. Camarillo's heart; he has
2223 volunteered more than 2,000 hours in behalf of the United States
2324 Fish and Wildlife Service, during which he has monitored the native
2425 ocelot population at Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge and
2526 performed research on alligators, deer, and birds; he is also a
2627 volunteer at the Palo Alto Battlefield National Historical Park,
2728 where he worked with technical school students from Harlingen to
2829 survey the battlefield, coordinated with National Parks
2930 Conservation Association engineers to build a visitor center, and
3031 served as a civilian project manager; and
3132 WHEREAS, In addition to these endeavors, Mr. Camarillo has
3233 been a longtime supporter of the Democratic Party, having
3334 previously served as a campaign organizer for Bill Clinton in
3435 Hidalgo, Cameron, Willacy, and Starr Counties; he has volunteered
3536 for many other local campaigns, and his more recent achievements
3637 have included working on the campaign for Justice Luz Elena Chapa,
3738 who was elected to the Fourth Court of Appeals in 2013; and
3839 WHEREAS, Mr. Camarillo credits his parents, Castulo and
3940 Evangelia Camarillo, for teaching him the importance of
4041 perseverance and compassion toward others, and as a father, he has
4142 endeavored to pass these lessons down to his two sons, Ryan and
4243 Kevin; and
4344 WHEREAS, Jesse Camarillo has contributed to the betterment of
4445 his community and state through a lifetime of purposeful endeavor,
4546 and he has set an inspiring example of generosity and engagement for
4647 his fellow Texans to follow; now, therefore, be it
4748 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
4849 Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend Jesse Camarillo for
4950 his outstanding record of civic involvement and extend to him
5051 sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
5152 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
5253 prepared for Mr. Camarillo as an expression of high regard by the
5354 Texas House of Representatives.
