| 11 | 12 | | virtually; the league's longest-running contest, its origins trace |

| 12 | 13 | | back to 1910, when a small group of debate coaches met in Abilene to |

| 13 | 14 | | establish an interscholastic forensic program; since then, the |

| 14 | 15 | | competition has helped countless students develop skills in public |
|---|

| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Facing off against other top debate students from |

| 17 | 18 | | across Texas, McCade Smith and Tatum Neuwirth turned in a |

| 18 | 19 | | commendable performance at the state competition; led by instructor |

| 19 | 20 | | Sheryl Oliver, the pair previously won second place in the 2A |

| 20 | 21 | | cross-examination qualifiers to secure their spot at the state |

| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, By earning the right to compete in the state's |

| 23 | 24 | | premier high school debate competition, these bright young Texans |

| 25 | 26 | | dedication they have demonstrated is sure to serve them well in the |

| 27 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
