| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Adri Perez, a lifelong El Pasoan and a policy and |

| 8 | 9 | | affecting the state's LGBTQIA+ communities; and |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Born in El Paso and raised in that city and in |

| 10 | 11 | | neighboring Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, Adri Perez graduated with |

| 11 | 12 | | bachelor's degrees in biochemistry and secondary education from The |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | University of Texas at El Paso and was recognized as the Texas |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | Rising 2015 Organizer of the Year while attending UTEP; this |

| 14 | 15 | | determined activist went on to establish West Fund, the first fund |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | dedicated to providing access to abortions and reproductive choices |

| 16 | 17 | | for residents of West Texas, and has further worked to raise money |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | for individuals in immigrant detention facilities as a cofounder of |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | the Fronterizx Fianza Fund; other organizations that have benefited |

| 19 | 20 | | from Adri's involvement have included Ngage New Mexico, Fund Texas |

| 20 | 21 | | Choice, and YWCA El Paso Del Norte Region; and |

| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Since joining the ACLU of Texas in 2018, Adri has led |

| 22 | 23 | | the organization's Sexuality & Gender Equality Team; their |

| 23 | 24 | | responsibilities include representing ACLU of Texas in statewide |

| 24 | 25 | | coalitions, training and educating the families of children who |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | identify as transgender, and advocating on legislative bills |

| 26 | 27 | | impacting Texas' transgender community; recognized as an |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | outstanding leader and advocate, Adri has earned such accolades as |

| 28 | 29 | | the Rising Star Award from the League of Women Voters of El Paso and |

| 29 | 30 | | the Golden Girl Award from the El Paso Queer Bar Association; and |

| 30 | 31 | | WHEREAS, By championing the voices of the marginalized, Adri |

| 31 | 32 | | Perez has been a force for progressive change in West Texas and |

| 32 | 33 | | beyond and serves as a powerful role model for other aspiring |
