| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, LGBTQIA+ communities across the state have greatly |

| 6 | 7 | | benefited from the dedicated efforts of Rebecca Marques, who |

| 7 | 8 | | currently serves as the Human Rights Campaign Texas State Director |

| 8 | 9 | | for Project One America; and |

| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Marques joined HRC in 2018, and she has since |

| 10 | 11 | | worked tirelessly to advance the organization's mission of |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | supporting equality and ending discrimination against LGBTQIA+ |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | communities; her many contributions have included campaigning for |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | political candidates and advocating in behalf of LGBTQIA+ Texans at |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | the State Capitol; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Prior to working with HRC, Ms. Marques served as a |

| 16 | 17 | | political strategist for the American Civil Liberties Union of |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | Texas, where she led statewide efforts in support of LGBTQIA+ |

| 18 | 19 | | communities and reproductive rights; in addition, she served as the |

| 19 | 20 | | Florida campaign organizer for Oceana's Climate and Energy |

| 20 | 21 | | Campaign; she holds a bachelor's degree in political science from |

| 21 | 22 | | the University of Central Florida; and |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Rebecca Marques has demonstrated a deep commitment |

| 23 | 24 | | to building a better future for LGBTQIA+ communities in Texas and |

| 24 | 25 | | beyond, and she may indeed reflect with pride on her many noteworthy |

| 25 | 26 | | accomplishments; now, therefore, be it |

| 26 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

| 27 | 28 | | Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend Rebecca Marques for |
