| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the |

| 6 | 7 | | passing of Cruz G. Cervantes of Raymondville on October 3, 2021, at |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The son of Domingo and Maria Cervantes, Cruz |

| 9 | 10 | | Cervantes was born in Hargill on May 3, 1940, and he grew up with the |

| 10 | 11 | | companionship of seven siblings, Maria, Clemen, Antonio, Rita, |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | Josefina, Angelica, and Margarito; while attending Raymondville |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | High School, he played basketball and baseball and was All-District |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | in football, and his classmates named him Best All Around; he |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | graduated in 1960 and went on to earn an associate's degree in |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | business from Texas Southmost College; and |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Cervantes enjoyed a rewarding career with the |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | Texas Department of Human Services that spanned three decades until |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | his retirement as a supervisor; he also contributed to his |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | community as a member of the Lions Club and the Jaycees; and |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Above all else, Mr. Cervantes was devoted to his |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | wife, Emilia, with whom he shared a fulfilling union of 57 years; he |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | took great pride in his three children, Vilma, Mark, and Adrian, and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | he delighted in time spent with his six grandchildren, Michael, |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | Matthew, Myranda, Alysa, Callie, and Aidan; and |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | WHEREAS, While his loss is difficult to bear, Cruz Cervantes |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | leaves behind numerous friends and loved ones whose lives are far |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | richer for having known him, and he will always hold a treasured |

| 28 | 29 | | place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |

| 29 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

| 30 | 31 | | Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of |

| 31 | 32 | | Cruz G. Cervantes and extend sincere condolences to all who mourn |
