45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Libby Gonzales of Dallas has distinguished herself
67 through her exceptional work as an advocate for the transgender
78 youth community in Texas; and
89 WHEREAS, Since 2017, Libby and her parents, Frank and Rachel
910 Gonzales, have made numerous trips to the State Capitol to testify
1011 at hearings before members of the Texas House of Representatives
1112 and the Texas Senate; an effective communicator, Libby has offered
1213 valuable and eloquent input on legislation concerning transgender
1314 students such as herself, and her story has been shared by national
1415 TV stations; Libby's parents advocate for treating all transgender
1516 children--at home, in school, and in their community--with
1617 equality, acceptance, and respect; and
1718 WHEREAS, By courageously speaking out on urgent legislative
1819 issues, Libby Gonzales has helped ensure that the voices of
1920 transgender students will not be silenced, and she is a source of
2021 inspiration to numerous people in the Lone Star State and beyond;
2122 now, therefore, be it
2223 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
2324 Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend Libby Gonzales for
2425 her advocacy in behalf of the transgender youth community in Texas
2526 and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success in her
2627 important work; and, be it further
2728 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2829 prepared for Libby Gonzales as an expression of high regard by the
2930 Texas House of Representatives.
