| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The citizens of Duval County lost an esteemed leader |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | with the death of the Honorable Gilbert N. Saenz on October 16, |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | 2021; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Gilbert Saenz graduated from The University of Texas |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | School of Law in 2002, and he worked as a licensed criminal defense |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | and personal injury lawyer in Freer for 19 years; he was elected |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Duval County judge in 2019, and his many responsibilities included |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | overseeing the commissioners court, participating in the county |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | election board, and maintaining the county's expenditures; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, A proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, Judge Saenz was |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | actively involved in VFW Post No. 8931 in San Diego, Texas; in |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | addition, he was a lifetime member of America's Last Patrol Ranch; |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Gilbert Saenz earned the respect and admiration of |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | innumerable people over the course of his career in public service, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | and his contributions to Duval County will be remembered for years |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | to come; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | of Judge Gilbert N. Saenz and extend heartfelt sympathy to his many |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | friends and loved ones; and, be it further |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Gilbert |
|---|
