| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Sidney Harrist of the Atlanta Independent School |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Texas Association of School Boards, |

| 9 | 10 | | the Superintendent of the Year award program recognizes |

| 10 | 11 | | administrators who have demonstrated outstanding leadership |

| 11 | 12 | | skills, dedication to building public support and involvement in |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | education, and a sustained commitment to improving the quality of |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | education in their districts; and |

| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, A former student of Atlanta ISD, Mr. Harrist has |

| 15 | 16 | | worked with the district for more than four and a half decades; he |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | began his career as a history teacher at Atlanta High School, and he |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | went on to serve as a counselor, principal, and assistant |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | superintendent; in 2014, he assumed the position of superintendent; |

| 20 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Sidney Harrist has worked tirelessly to foster a |

| 21 | 22 | | supportive and challenging educational environment for young |

| 22 | 23 | | Texans, and he is indeed a deserving recipient of this prestigious |

| 23 | 24 | | honor; now, therefore, be it |

| 24 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

| 25 | 26 | | Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Sidney |
