45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, The 100th birthday of an esteemed Texan is truly
67 cause for celebration, and Loraine Swift Christian of Dallas is
78 marking that momentous milestone in her life on October 4, 2021, to
89 the delight of her family and friends; and
910 WHEREAS, Born in 1921 to Johnnie and Birdie Mae Swift, the
1011 former Loraine Swift attended school in Dallas; she settled in the
1112 Westmoreland Heights neighborhood in 1964; and
1213 WHEREAS, Blessed with a devoted family, Ms. Christian takes
1314 great pride in her children, Alvis, Evelyn, Patricia, and Larry;
1415 she is sustained in all her endeavors by a deep and abiding faith,
1516 and she has been a member of Gilgal Missionary Baptist Church for
1617 more than five decades; and
1718 WHEREAS, Ms. Christian has traveled to numerous
1819 destinations, both within the U.S. and around the world, and she has
1920 especially enjoyed attending the Kentucky Derby; a woman of many
2021 talents, she has made her own clothes, as well as ceramics; and
2122 WHEREAS, Loraine Christian is a source of joy and inspiration
2223 to all who are fortunate enough to know her, and it is indeed a
2324 pleasure to honor her for joining an elite group of Texans who can
2425 reflect on 100 years of life well lived; now, therefore, be it
2526 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
2627 Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Loraine Swift
2728 Christian on the occasion of her 100th birthday and extend to her
2829 sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
2930 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3031 prepared for Ms. Christian as an expression of high regard by the
3132 Texas House of Representatives.
