| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The 100th birthday of an esteemed Texan is truly |

| 6 | 7 | | cause for celebration, and Loraine Swift Christian of Dallas is |

| 7 | 8 | | marking that momentous milestone in her life on October 4, 2021, to |

| 8 | 9 | | the delight of her family and friends; and |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Born in 1921 to Johnnie and Birdie Mae Swift, the |

| 10 | 11 | | former Loraine Swift attended school in Dallas; she settled in the |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | Westmoreland Heights neighborhood in 1964; and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Blessed with a devoted family, Ms. Christian takes |

| 13 | 14 | | great pride in her children, Alvis, Evelyn, Patricia, and Larry; |

| 14 | 15 | | she is sustained in all her endeavors by a deep and abiding faith, |

| 15 | 16 | | and she has been a member of Gilgal Missionary Baptist Church for |

| 16 | 17 | | more than five decades; and |

| 17 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Christian has traveled to numerous |

| 18 | 19 | | destinations, both within the U.S. and around the world, and she has |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | especially enjoyed attending the Kentucky Derby; a woman of many |

| 20 | 21 | | talents, she has made her own clothes, as well as ceramics; and |

| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Loraine Christian is a source of joy and inspiration |

| 22 | 23 | | to all who are fortunate enough to know her, and it is indeed a |

| 23 | 24 | | pleasure to honor her for joining an elite group of Texans who can |

| 24 | 25 | | reflect on 100 years of life well lived; now, therefore, be it |

| 25 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
