45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, All who shared in the life of Dr. Darrell Wayne
67 Kinnard of Mabank were deeply saddened by his passing on September
78 8, 2021, at the age of 76; and
89 WHEREAS, Darrell Kinnard was born to Jake and Ruth Kinnard on
910 September 16, 1944; he grew up on his family farm outside of
1011 Granbury with four siblings, Jake, Sandra, Sharon, and Roy; after
1112 attending Tarleton State University, he transferred to Texas A&M
1213 University, where he earned his bachelor's and master's degrees;
1314 and
1415 WHEREAS, While teaching in Weslaco, Dr. Kinnard met his
1516 future wife, the former Jennie Rainwater; the couple exchanged
1617 wedding vows in 1969 and became the proud parents of three children,
1718 Julie, Jason, and Joanna; with the passing years, Dr. Kinnard had
1819 the pleasure of seeing his family grow to include eight
1920 grandchildren, Caleb, Carly, Sam, Weston, Davis, Rylee, Keaton, and
2021 Hayes; and
2122 WHEREAS, In 1971, Dr. Kinnard realized his dream of earning
2223 acceptance into veterinary school, and he went on to graduate in
2324 1974; known by many as "Doc," he opened a successful veterinary
2425 practice in Mabank, where he cared for a wide range of animals; he
2526 distinguished himself as a leader in his field, serving on the board
2627 of the Texas Veterinary Medical Association and participating in
2728 multiple legislative committees; moreover, he was an author and
2829 presenter of academic papers and lectures, and he taught at several
2930 universities as an externship trainer and preceptorship
3031 instructor; among his various accolades, he was honored as the Food
3132 Animal Practitioner of the Year in 1996 and General Practitioner of
3233 the Year in 2012; and
3334 WHEREAS, Deeply committed to education, Dr. Kinnard was a
3435 member of the Mabank ISD board of trustees for nearly four decades;
3536 he also gave of his time and talents to the Mabank Chamber of
3637 Commerce, Cedar Creek Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, and Mabank
3738 Development Corporation; a man of faith, he was a longtime
3839 congregant at First Baptist Church of Mabank, where he served as a
3940 deacon, teacher, and committee member; and
4041 WHEREAS, Darrell Kinnard lived a rich and purposeful life,
4142 and he will forever be remembered with deep affection by all who
4243 held him close to their hearts; now, therefore, be it
4344 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
4445 Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory
4546 of Dr. Darrell Wayne "Doc" Kinnard and extend sincere condolences
4647 to the members of his family: to his wife, Jennie Rainwater Kinnard;
4748 to his children, Julie Craighead, Jason Kinnard and his wife,
4849 Ashley, and Joanna Owens and her husband, Rocky; to his
4950 grandchildren, Caleb, Carly, Sam, Weston, Davis, Rylee, Keaton, and
5051 Hayes; to his siblings, Sandra Rogers and her husband, Floyd,
5152 Sharon Sadler, and Roy Kinnard and his wife, Billie; and to his
5253 other relatives and friends; and, be it further
5354 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
5455 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
5556 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
5657 Dr. Darrell Kinnard.
