| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Coy Holcombe is retiring as superintendent of |

| 6 | 7 | | the Eustace Independent School District in June 2022, providing a |
|---|
| 7 | 8 | | fitting opportunity to reflect on his contributions to education |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | during an exceptional career that has spanned nearly four decades; |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | and |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Since joining Eustace ISD as superintendent in 2001, |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | Dr. Holcombe has worked tirelessly to ensure a challenging and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | comprehensive curriculum for the 1,600 students served by the |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | district; among his many achievements, he oversaw the completion of |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | a $13 million bond package that included new classrooms for the high |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | school, middle school, intermediate school, and primary school |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | campuses; moreover, he has ushered in a number of technological |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | advances; and |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Holcombe began his career as a teacher and coach |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | with the Groesbeck Independent School District in 1984; he went on |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | to hold those same positions for Mart ISD and then served as |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | superintendent for Evant ISD before taking the helm of the Eustace |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | district; and |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Widely respected by his peers, Dr. Holcombe was |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | honored as the 2011 Regional Superintendent of the Year by the |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | Region 7 Education Service Center; a graduate of Texas Tech |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | University, he earned his master's degree in education |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | administration from Tarleton State University and his doctorate in |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | education from Baylor University; and |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Retirement will afford Dr. Holcombe the opportunity |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | to spend more time with his family and to travel with his wife, |
|---|
| 31 | 32 | | Laurie; and |
|---|
| 32 | 33 | | WHEREAS, Eustace ISD has benefited immeasurably from Coy |
|---|
| 33 | 34 | | Holcombe's skilled and visionary leadership, and his contributions |
|---|
| 34 | 35 | | will be remembered and appreciated for years to come; now, |

| 35 | 36 | | therefore, be it |

| 36 | 37 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

| 37 | 38 | | Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Dr. Coy |
