| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Peaceful Rest Baptist Church in |

| 6 | 7 | | Jasper are celebrating the 100th anniversary of their church's |

| 7 | 8 | | founding on October 24, 2021; and |

| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Founded in 1921, the Peaceful Rest Baptist Church |

| 9 | 10 | | was officially organized by the Reverend Moran Allen and three |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | local families in July 1922; over the years, the church has |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | benefited from the outstanding efforts of many dedicated clergy, |

| 12 | 13 | | including the Reverend Daniel Stafford, who has served as pastor |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | since 1976; and |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | WHEREAS, The Peaceful Rest Baptist Church began construction |

| 15 | 16 | | on its current sanctuary in May 2002, and the facility was completed |

| 16 | 17 | | later that year; united by their shared faith and strong |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | traditions, the members of the church have made a meaningful |

| 18 | 19 | | difference in their community by supporting a variety of |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | commendable programs that foster fellowship and offer help to those |

| 20 | 21 | | in need; and |

| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Countless Jasper residents have looked to the |

| 22 | 23 | | Peaceful Rest Baptist Church for spiritual guidance, and it is a |

| 23 | 24 | | pleasure to join in honoring the church at this special time in its |

| 24 | 25 | | rich history; now, therefore, be it |

| 25 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

| 26 | 27 | | Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commemorate the 100th |
