55 R E S O L U T I O N
66 WHEREAS, Bobbie Garza-Hernandez was presented with a
77 Lifetime Achievement Award by the Emma S. Barrientos Mexican
88 American Cultural Center on September 17, 2021; and
99 WHEREAS, This prestigious accolade was established in 2009 by
1010 the ESB-MACC advisory board to recognize leaders in the Austin
1111 community who have made meaningful contributions in the Latino
1212 cultural arts; and
1313 WHEREAS, Ms. Garza-Hernandez is the owner of Pink
1414 Consulting, which provides communication services for large-scale
1515 public and private projects and has become a leader in outreach to
1616 disenfranchised and minority communities; moreover, she has served
1717 as president of the Austin Women's Political Caucus and is
1818 currently the public relations and development consultant for the
1919 Indigenous Cultures Institute; and
2020 WHEREAS, A graduate of St. Edward's University,
2121 Ms. Garza-Hernandez previously worked for the City of Austin for
2222 more than 12 years, including five years as an executive assistant
2323 for former mayor Gus Garcia; in addition to playing a key role in
2424 initiatives related to affordable housing, minority contracting,
2525 and youth services, she was integral in the establishment of the
2626 MACC and helped to secure the property for the center; and
2727 WHEREAS, Through her dedication, visionary leadership, and
2828 deep commitment to her community, Bobbie Garza-Hernandez has
2929 greatly benefited her fellow citizens, and this most recent honor
3030 is a fitting acknowledgement of her outstanding record of service;
3131 now, therefore, be it
3232 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
3333 Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Bobbie
3434 Garza-Hernandez on her receipt of a Lifetime Achievement Award from
3535 the Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center and extend
3636 to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
3737 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3838 prepared for Ms. Garza-Hernandez as an expression of high regard by
3939 the Texas House of Representatives.
