| 5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Honorable Becky Wilbanks is stepping down as |

| 6 | 7 | | Cass County judge on December 31, 2022, drawing to a close more than |
|---|
| 7 | 8 | | three and a half decades of service to the county; and |
|---|
| 8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, In 2014, Ms. Wilbanks became the first woman to be |
|---|
| 9 | 10 | | elected as Cass County judge; over the course of her tenure, she |
|---|
| 10 | 11 | | worked on cases in such areas as probations, guardianships, and |
|---|
| 11 | 12 | | mental health, in addition to hearing misdemeanor pleas and |
|---|
| 12 | 13 | | presiding over the commissioners court; moreover, she was chair of |
|---|
| 13 | 14 | | the County Judges Education Advisory Committee from 2015 until |
|---|
| 14 | 15 | | 2021; and |
|---|
| 15 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Prior to her election as judge, Ms. Wilbanks was the |
|---|
| 16 | 17 | | Cass County district clerk for 28 years; during that time, she |
|---|
| 17 | 18 | | served as president of the County and District Clerks' Association |
|---|
| 18 | 19 | | of Texas and on the board of directors of the Texas Association of |
|---|
| 19 | 20 | | Counties and the TAC Unemployment Compensation Group Account Fund; |
|---|
| 20 | 21 | | in 2012, she was honored as District Clerk of the Year in Texas; and |
|---|
| 21 | 22 | | WHEREAS, A native of Lindale, Ms. Wilbanks graduated from |
|---|
| 22 | 23 | | Texas A&M University-Texarkana; since 2016, she has been the owner |
|---|
| 23 | 24 | | of the Merle Norman Cosmetic Studio in Atlanta; and |
|---|
| 24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, The skill, professionalism, and commitment to |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | excellence demonstrated by Becky Wilbanks have greatly benefited |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | the residents of Cass County and earned her the respect and |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | admiration of her colleagues and fellow citizens, and she may |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | indeed reflect with pride on her many achievements as she begins the |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | next exciting chapter of her life; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 30 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |

| 31 | 32 | | Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend Becky Wilbanks for |

| 32 | 33 | | her service as Cass County judge and extend to her sincere best |
