5 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Katy Independent School District is celebrating |

6 | 7 | | the dedication of its Martha Lopez Aki ECI Project TYKE facility on |

8 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Formerly the L. D. Robinson Pavilion, the remodeled |
---|
9 | 10 | | 25,000-square-foot building provides a thoughtfully designed |
---|
10 | 11 | | center for the Early Childhood Intervention Project Teach Your Kids |
---|
11 | 12 | | Early program, previously housed on campuses across the district; |
---|
12 | 13 | | it includes classrooms, therapy rooms, evaluation rooms, offices, |
---|
13 | 14 | | and other spaces, and it features inspiring murals as well as new |
---|
14 | 15 | | technology, including smart panels, projection screens, and an |
---|
15 | 16 | | enhanced security system; and |
---|
16 | 17 | | WHEREAS, The facility is named after Martha Aki, who oversaw |
---|
17 | 18 | | the district's Early Childhood Intervention Project Teach Your Kids |
---|
18 | 19 | | Early program for nearly three decades before her retirement in |
---|
19 | 20 | | 2020; Project TYKE assists children with developmental delays or |
---|
20 | 21 | | disabilities and their families, providing necessary support and |
---|
21 | 22 | | resources in a dynamic, personalized process that reflects the |
---|
22 | 23 | | preferences, learning styles, cultural beliefs, and priorities of |
---|
23 | 24 | | individual children and their families; and |
---|
24 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Under the innovative leadership of Ms. Aki, Project |
---|
25 | 26 | | TYKE developed a group coaching model that proved so effective, |
---|
26 | 27 | | especially for children on the autism spectrum, that her team was |
---|
27 | 28 | | frequently called upon to host training events for ECI programs |
---|
28 | 29 | | across the state; she also served as chair of the Texas Council of |
---|
29 | 30 | | ECI Program Directors Consortia, facilitating a productive |
---|
30 | 31 | | relationship between Texas ECI program directors and the Health and |
---|
31 | 32 | | Human Services ECI state staff; in addition, she was a member of the |
---|
32 | 33 | | Katy ISD Special Education Leadership Team and worked with state |
---|
33 | 34 | | legislators and Texans Care for Children on initiatives benefiting |
---|
34 | 35 | | ECI children; she was recently appointed to the advisory board of |
---|
35 | 36 | | the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education |
---|
36 | 37 | | Standards; and |
---|
37 | 38 | | WHEREAS, High-quality early intervention improves outcomes |
---|
38 | 39 | | for children, families, and communities, and this splendid new |
---|
39 | 40 | | facility will allow the staff of ECI Project TYKE to provide even |
---|
40 | 41 | | more effective services; now, therefore, be it |
---|
41 | 42 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas |
---|
42 | 43 | | Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commemorate the dedication |
---|
43 | 44 | | of the Martha Lopez Aki ECI Project TYKE facility and extend to the |
---|
44 | 45 | | program's staff sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be |

45 | 46 | | it further |

46 | 47 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |

47 | 48 | | prepared for the program as an expression of high regard by the |
