45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Residents of Williamson County are mourning the loss
67 of Constable Kevin Stofle, who passed away on September 13, 2021, at
78 the age of 62; and
89 WHEREAS, The son of Bill and Earnestine Stofle, Kevin Stofle
910 was born in Sherman on February 21, 1959; after graduating from
1011 Whitesboro High School and the Texoma Police Academy, he joined the
1112 Whitesboro Police Department at the age of 19; he was hired by the
1213 Georgetown Police Department in 1982 and rose to become assistant
1314 chief of police; in addition, he served the city as emergency
1415 management coordinator; he retired in 2012 and was appointed county
1516 constable for Precinct 3 the following year; and
1617 WHEREAS, Constable Stofle was known for his thoughtfulness
1718 and compassion, as well his courage and commanding presence, and he
1819 excelled as a conflict resolution mediator and instructor; a
1920 graduate of the FBI National Academy, he was licensed as a master
2021 peace officer and law enforcement instructor; he served for six
2122 years as lead instructor for the Texas Institute of Public Problem
2223 Solving at The University of Texas at Austin LBJ School of Public
2324 Affairs, and he traveled across the country and to Brazil as a lead
2425 instructor for the United States Department of Justice; quiet and
2526 humble for all his accomplishments, he was a role model and caring
2627 mentor to countless younger officers over the course of a career
2728 that spanned four decades; and
2829 WHEREAS, Deeply committed to his community, Constable Stofle
2930 volunteered for Project Graduation for more than 40 years and
3031 served on the board of Habitat for Humanity; he was a youth baseball
3132 coach, Georgetown Independent School District mentor, and a Master
3233 Mason with the San Gabriel Masonic Lodge No. 89; moreover, he was a
3334 valued member of Celebration Church, serving in numerous
3435 capacities; above all, he was devoted to his wife of 26 years, Laura
3536 Hawes Stofle, and their four children, Bryan Stofle, Amanda Alff,
3637 Colt Stofle, and Lauren Stofle, as well as four grandchildren,
3738 Stephen, Elizabeth, Kase, and Kash; he also leaves to cherish his
3839 memory his parents, his sister, Debbie Patterson, his nephews, Jeff
3940 and Jared Patterson, and many other relatives and friends; and
4041 WHEREAS, Kevin Stofle earned the admiration of all who knew
4142 him, and his kindness, integrity, and unyielding dedication to
4243 public safety will remain a source of tremendous inspiration to
4344 those he left behind; now, therefore, be it
4445 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
4546 Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life of
4647 Williamson County Constable Kevin Stofle and extend sincere
4748 condolences to his loved ones; and, be it further
4849 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4950 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
5051 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Constable
5152 Kevin Stofle.
