45 R E S O L U T I O N
56 WHEREAS, Family and friends will long cherish their memories
67 of Angelita Perez Garza of Corpus Christi, who passed away on
78 January 17, 2020, at the age of 92; and
89 WHEREAS, The daughter of Jesus and Maria Perez, Angelita
910 Perez was born on January 9, 1928, and she grew up with two
1011 siblings, Tiburcio and Maria Anita; she was a loving wife to Jose
1112 Valdemar Garza and a devoted mother to her 11 children, Isabel,
1213 Lupe, Richard, Jose, Abelardo, Roland, Rene, Johnny, Deborah Ann,
1314 Daniel, and the late Belinda I. Garza; with the passing years, she
1415 was further blessed with 31 grandchildren and 49
1516 great-grandchildren; and
1617 WHEREAS, Following the sudden death of her husband in 1974,
1718 Ms. Garza became the sole provider for her family, working long
1819 hours seven days a week as a maid for prominent local businessmen
1920 and politicians, including former Governor Ann Richards; through
2021 her example and her teaching, she instilled in her children the
2122 values of discipline, loyalty, respect, love of family, service to
2223 others, and a deep religious faith; and
2324 WHEREAS, Inspired by her Lipan Apache heritage to help fellow
2425 community members in need, Ms. Garza contributed her time and
2526 talents to the Memorial Hospital Senior Volunteer Program and
2627 Senior Community Services; she was also a member of the Sacred Heart
2728 Society at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Gregory, Texas,
2829 and the Diocese of Corpus Christi; in addition, she greatly enjoyed
2930 folklorico dancing; and
3031 WHEREAS, Courageous, steadfast, and generous, Angelita Garza
3132 lived a caring and purposeful life centered around her family and
3233 her community, and those who held her dear will forever remember the
3334 warmth and kindness she brought into their lives; now, therefore,
3435 be it
3536 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 87th Texas
3637 Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory
3738 of Angelita Perez Garza and extend heartfelt sympathy to the
3839 members of her family: to her children, Isabel Lueckemeyer, Lupe
3940 Garcia and her husband, Hector, Richard Ortega, Jose Garza Jr.,
4041 Abelardo Garza, Roland Perez Garza, Rene Garza and his wife, Maria,
4142 Johnny Garza, Deborah Ann Perez, and Daniel Garza; to her sister,
4243 Maria Anita Lozano; to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren;
4344 and to her other relatives and friends; and, be it further
4445 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4546 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
4647 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Angelita
4748 Perez Garza.
