|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Dr. Villarreal holds a master's degree in |

| 7 | 7 | | educational leadership and a bachelor's degree in government |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | from The University of Texas at Brownsville; on November 16, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | 2020, he successfully defended his dissertation, "Field of |

| 10 | 10 | | Dreams: Environmental Factors Contributing to the Academic and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Professional Success of Mexican-American Former Migrant Students |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | from the Rio-Grande Valley of South Texas"; and |

| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, A lifelong educator and a former migrant student, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Dr. Villarreal has dedicated his career to teaching on South |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Texas campuses in Brownsville; since 2015, he has served as an |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | assistant principal at Faulk Middle School, and he previously |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | spent six years as an assistant principal at Lucio Middle School |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | and seven years as a classroom instructor at Gladys Porter High |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | School, beginning in 2002; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Jaime Villarreal has demonstrated an unwavering |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | commitment to the students of the Rio Grande Valley in his |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | academic and professional endeavors, and he may indeed take great |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | pride in this most recent accomplishment; now, therefore, be it |

| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |

| 25 | 25 | | Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby congratulate Dr. Jaime |

| 26 | 26 | | Villarreal on receiving a doctorate of education from The |

| 27 | 27 | | University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and extend to him sincere |
