5	5	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
6	6	citizens of Houston in mourning the loss of Houston Police
7	7	Officer William Jeffrey, who died in the line of duty on
8	8	September 20, 2021, at the age 54; and
9	9	WHEREAS, A lifelong public servant and a respected member
10	10	of the Houston community, Bill Jeffrey was a loving husband and
11	11	father, a proud veteran of the United States Navy, and an
12	12	esteemed senior officer with the Houston Police Department; and
13	13	WHEREAS, Courageous and dedicated to duty, Bill Jeffrey
14	14	joined the Houston Police Department on June 11, 1990; he served
15	15	in both the North Patrol and South Central Patrol Divisions, and
16	16	he was assigned to the Major Offenders Division in November of
17	17	2008; and
18	18	WHEREAS, Officer Jeffrey manifested uncommon talent and
19	19	exceptional bravery in managing the responsibilities of law
20	20	enforcement, and he set lasting standards for professional
21	21	excellence that inspired many new recruits and young officers; in
22	22	the course of his career, he was the recipient of 77
23	23	commendations, 18 of which were awarded by citizens within the
24	24	communities he served; and
25	25	WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, Bill was supported by the
26	26	love and encouragement of his devoted wife, Susanne, who retired
27	27	as a senior police officer in December of 2020; their cherished
28	28	daughter, Lacie, enriched his life immeasurably; and
29	29	WHEREAS, Officer Jeffrey exemplified the highest ideals of
30	30	law enforcement through his selfless commitment to protecting
31	31	and serving the public; he was a treasured Texas citizen and an
32	32	outstanding peace officer, and he will long be remembered with
33	33	great respect and admiration by all who were privileged to share
34	34	in his life; now, therefore, be it
35	35	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
36	36	Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby extend sincere
37	37	condolences to the bereaved family of Officer William Jeffrey;
38	38	and, be it further
39	39	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
40	40	his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
41	41	Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
42	42	memory of Officer Bill Jeffrey.
