5	6		WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
6		-	commemorates the life of Thomas Homer McMahon Jr., who died
7		-	~~June~~ 4, 2021, at the age of 80; and
	7	+	commemorates the life of Thomas Homer McMahon Jr., who died June
	8	+	4, 2021, at the age of 80; and
8	9		WHEREAS, Thomas McMahon was born on November 9, 1940, in
9	10		Saint Paul, Minnesota; a cowboy at heart since his childhood
10	11		spent watching Western movies, he cherished his Irish and
11	12		Midwestern roots, and he was honored to be an adopted citizen of
12	13		the Lone Star State; and
13	14		WHEREAS, Thomas enjoyed a highly rewarding career as an
14	15		executive in the commercial real estate industry, and he built
15	16		lasting friendships throughout his years in business and during
16	17		his extensive travels; he settled in 2000 in the tiny town of
17	18		Washington, Texas, where he embraced a quiet life with his horses
18	19		and dogs in the wide open spaces; and
19	20		WHEREAS, He began a journey of love and partnership with
20	21		Cyndee Smith in 1992; his son and daughter, Sean McMahon and Kate
21	22		McMahon, and his stepdaughter, Angie Gonzales, were a source of
22	23		pride and joy for him, and he was a doting grandfather to his two
23	24		beloved grandchildren, Reece Hoppensteadt and Emery McMahon; and
24	25		WHEREAS, Noted for his easy laughter and his impeccable
25	26		cowboy style, he was a source of inspiration to his many friends
26	27		and loved ones through his kind and generous spirit and his
27	28		enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest; he was a treasured
28	29		Texas citizen and an esteemed member of the Washington community,
29	30		and he leaves behind memories that will long be cherished by all
30	31		who were privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it
31	32		RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
32	33		Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby extend sincere
33	34		condolences to the bereaved family of Thomas Homer McMahon Jr.;
34	35		and, be it further
35	36		RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
36	37		his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
37	38		Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
38	39		memory of Thomas McMahon.
