22 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
33 join the Guadalupe Valley Young Marines and Texans across the
44 state in celebrating the last week of October, 2021, as Red
55 Ribbon Week; and
66 WHEREAS, The mission of the Young Marines program is to
77 develop good citizenship and promote a healthy, drug-free
88 lifestyle among young people; and
99 WHEREAS, Drug awareness and education play a vital role in
1010 the Young Marines' fight against illicit drug use and
1111 trafficking; the young men and women in this outstanding
1212 organization work diligently during Red Ribbon Week to educate
1313 others and to raise awareness of the dangers associated with drug
1414 use; and
1515 WHEREAS, Red Ribbon Week provides an opportunity for all
1616 citizens to make a difference in the lives of young people by
1717 helping to educate them about the consequences of illegal drug
1818 use; now, therefore, be it
1919 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
2020 Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend the Guadalupe
2121 Valley Young Marines on their commitment to reducing drug usage
2222 and trafficking and extend to them best wishes for a productive
2323 and memorable Red Ribbon Week in 2021; and, be it further
2424 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
2525 this exemplary organization as an expression of esteem from the
2626 Texas Senate.
