5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |
---|
6 | 6 | | commemorates the life of Mary Stroube Adams, who died July 6, |
---|
7 | 7 | | 2021, at the age of 79; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Mary Adams was an exemplary citizen and a |
---|
9 | 9 | | dedicated educator, and her sincere concern for each of her |
---|
10 | 10 | | students and her eagerness to serve as a mentor had a profound |
---|
11 | 11 | | impact on the lives of countless young people; and |
---|
12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Mary was born on June 6, 1942; she graduated from |
---|
13 | 13 | | Abilene High School, and she earned a bachelor's degree from |
---|
14 | 14 | | Stanford University and a master's degree from the University of |
---|
15 | 15 | | Houston; and |
---|
16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, She enjoyed a long and distinguished career as an |
---|
17 | 17 | | English and humanities teacher and as an administrator with the |
---|
18 | 18 | | Temple Independent School District; her administrative positions |
---|
19 | 19 | | included serving as a curriculum coordinator and a dean of |
---|
20 | 20 | | instruction; however, she also continued to work as a classroom |
---|
21 | 21 | | teacher throughout her career in the district; and |
---|
22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, She took part in multiple cultural exchange |
---|
23 | 23 | | programs in the Soviet Union and Russia and in study and |
---|
24 | 24 | | research trips in France and the Amazon River basin; her many |
---|
25 | 25 | | honors included the State of Texas Outstanding Teacher of the |
---|
26 | 26 | | Humanities Award and the Rotary Club Educator of the Year; in |
---|
27 | 27 | | 2000, Temple High School established the Mary S. Adams Award, |
---|
28 | 28 | | an award that is voted on by students to honor teachers who |
---|
29 | 29 | | have had an important impact on the school; and |
---|
30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, A woman of wisdom and generosity, Mary Adams gave |
---|
31 | 31 | | unselfishly to others, and she will long be remembered for her |
---|
32 | 32 | | radiant smile, her caring spirit, and her enthusiasm for living |
---|
33 | 33 | | each day to the fullest; and |
---|
34 | 34 | | WHEREAS, She was devoted to her children and extended |
---|
35 | 35 | | family, and she leaves behind memories that will be cherished |
---|
36 | 36 | | forever by all who were privileged to share in her life; now, |
---|
37 | 37 | | therefore, be it |

38 | 38 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |

39 | 39 | | Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby extend sincere |

40 | 40 | | condolences to the bereaved family of Mary Stroube Adams; and, be |

42 | 42 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |

43 | 43 | | her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |

44 | 44 | | Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
