55 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
66 commemorates the life of Mary Stroube Adams, who died July 6,
77 2021, at the age of 79; and
88 WHEREAS, Mary Adams was an exemplary citizen and a
99 dedicated educator, and her sincere concern for each of her
1010 students and her eagerness to serve as a mentor had a profound
1111 impact on the lives of countless young people; and
1212 WHEREAS, Mary was born on June 6, 1942; she graduated from
1313 Abilene High School, and she earned a bachelor's degree from
1414 Stanford University and a master's degree from the University of
1515 Houston; and
1616 WHEREAS, She enjoyed a long and distinguished career as an
1717 English and humanities teacher and as an administrator with the
1818 Temple Independent School District; her administrative positions
1919 included serving as a curriculum coordinator and a dean of
2020 instruction; however, she also continued to work as a classroom
2121 teacher throughout her career in the district; and
2222 WHEREAS, She took part in multiple cultural exchange
2323 programs in the Soviet Union and Russia and in study and
2424 research trips in France and the Amazon River basin; her many
2525 honors included the State of Texas Outstanding Teacher of the
2626 Humanities Award and the Rotary Club Educator of the Year; in
2727 2000, Temple High School established the Mary S. Adams Award,
2828 an award that is voted on by students to honor teachers who
2929 have had an important impact on the school; and
3030 WHEREAS, A woman of wisdom and generosity, Mary Adams gave
3131 unselfishly to others, and she will long be remembered for her
3232 radiant smile, her caring spirit, and her enthusiasm for living
3333 each day to the fullest; and
3434 WHEREAS, She was devoted to her children and extended
3535 family, and she leaves behind memories that will be cherished
3636 forever by all who were privileged to share in her life; now,
3737 therefore, be it
3838 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
3939 Legislature, 2nd Called Session, hereby extend sincere
4040 condolences to the bereaved family of Mary Stroube Adams; and, be
4141 it further
4242 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
4343 her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
4444 Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
4545 memory of Mary Adams.
