4+ SENATE RESOLUTION
55 WHEREAS, The life of a highly respected civic leader drew
66 to a close with the passing of Kenneth Duncan Dickson of Rockwall
77 on August 19, 2021, at the age of 82; and
88 WHEREAS, The son of Kenneth Taylor Dickson and Trixie
99 Duncan Dickson, Ken Dickson was born on December 29, 1938, and
1010 grew up in Dallas; he was part of the final class to attend
1111 Pleasant Grove High School, graduated from W. W. Samuell High
1212 School in 1957 and earned a bachelor's degree in
1313 business/agriculture from East Texas State University; answering
1414 his nation's call to duty, he served in the U.S. Army and with the
1515 49th Armored Division of the Army National Guard; and
16- WHEREAS, Active with local politics for more than 40 years,
17- Mr. Dickson was a founding member of the Rockwall County

1818 Republican Men's Club, serving two terms as president and
1919 continuing as a member of the executive committee until his
2020 death; furthermore, he was a precinct chair, an election judge,
2121 and a delegate to Republican state and local conventions; he
2222 worked in support of numerous election campaigns, most notable
2323 those of U.S. Representative Ralph M. Hall, and he received the
2424 Ralph M. Hall Chairman's Award from the Rockwall GOP for a
2525 lifetime of service in support of the Republican Party; in
2626 recognition of Mr. Dickson's achievements, a street was named
2727 after him in Rockwall, where he served on the city council for
2828 four years; and
2929 WHEREAS, Mr. Dickson was a founding member and president
3030 of the North American Tuli Association and a co-owner of the Tuli
3131 cattle breed magazine, and he cherished the time he spent caring
3232 for his own cattle; in the 1980s, he began working in the oil and
3333 gas industry, and at the age of 82, he had no plans to retire;
3434 since 2005, he had served as a member of the Interstate Oil and
3535 Gas Compact Commission; and
3636 WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Dickson enjoyed the
3737 love and support of his wife of 44 years, Judy; he was the devoted
3838 father of two children, Craig and Jason, and he treasured his
3939 four grandchildren; a committed Christian, he was a valued
4040 congregant of Lakepointe Church, where he was a longtime
4141 volunteer at the Connection Center; and
4242 WHEREAS, Admired for his strong faith, his magnanimous
4343 personality, his love of State and Country, and his dedication to
4444 his fellow citizens, Ken Dickson lived a caring, authentic and
4545 purposeful life, and he leaves behind a record of service that
4646 his loved ones can remember with pride; now, therefore, be it
47- RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
48- Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory
49- of Kenneth Duncan Dickson and extend heartfelt sympathy to the
50- members of his family: to his wife, Judith Dion Dickson; to his
51- sons, Kenneth Craig Dickson and his wife Lynne, and Jason Keith
52- Dickson and his wife Lauren; to his grandchildren, Abigail Peavey
53- and husband Rafe, and Macy, Cohen, and Savannah Dickson; and to
54- his many other relatives and friends; and, be it further
47+ RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 87th Texas Legislature,
48+ 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory of Kenneth
49+ Duncan Dickson and extend heartfelt sympathy to the members of
