| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Laredo College on the occasion of the institution's |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | 75th anniversary; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Laredo Junior College was established at the site |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | of historic Fort McIntosh in 1947 to prepare soldiers returning |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | from service in World War II for the nation's new workforce; the |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | institution has flourished through ongoing community support, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | and today, the community college offers numerous award-winning |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | degree and certification programs for students of Webb, Jim Hogg, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | and Zapata Counties at two thriving campus locations; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, The Laredo College system has earned a reputation |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | for excellence in providing students with the tools they need to |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | build strong foundations for their educational and professional |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | pursuits; campuses offer an array of enriching student life |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | activities, including visual and performing art shows, a plant |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | and wildlife center, multiple veterans services, and numerous |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | continuing education courses through partnerships with local, |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | state, and federal entities in both the public and private |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | sectors; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Laredo College has twice been ranked as the Lone |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Star State's Number One Community College, and the system has |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | received numerous distinctions for its innovative programs and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | state-of-the-art facilities; all who have contributed to the |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | college's success can reflect with pride on the institution's |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | excellent educational service in South Texas; now, therefore, be |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | it |

| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby extend best wishes to the |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | staff, faculty, and administrators of Laredo College as they |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | celebrate the school's 75th anniversary; and, be it further |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
