 SENATE RESOLUTION
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 recognize the members of the Guadalupe Valley Young Marines and
 to commend them for their participation in Red Ribbon Week; and
 WHEREAS, The Young Marines is a national, nonprofit youth
 organization that is open to all students from age eight through
 high school graduation; local Young Marines units promote the
 mental, moral, and physical development of their members, help
 them to become good citizens, and help them to develop the
 self-discipline they need to live healthy, drug-free lifestyles;
 and
 WHEREAS, Red Ribbon Week is a national illegal drug
 awareness campaign observed annually during the final week of
 October; the popular event helps to educate and inform citizens
 about the importance of illicit drug-use prevention at the local
 level; approximately 80 million individuals across the country
 participate in Red Ribbon Week each year; and
 WHEREAS, This important campaign is one of the Young
 Marines' primary annual events, and members of the Guadalupe
 Valley unit participate in numerous activities to promote the
 mission of Red Ribbon Week in their community; all who are taking
 part in this educational event are indeed deserving of special
 recognition; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
 Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend the members of
 the Guadalupe Valley Young Marines for their commitment to the
 fight against illicit drugs and extend to them best wishes for a
 successful and educational 2021 Red Ribbon Week; and, be it
 further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 this organization as an expression of esteem from the Texas
 Senate.
