| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the members of the Guadalupe Valley Young Marines and |

| 4 | 4 | | to commend them for their participation in Red Ribbon Week; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Young Marines is a national, nonprofit youth |

| 6 | 6 | | organization that is open to all students from age eight |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | through high school graduation; local Young Marines units |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | promote the mental, moral, and physical development of their |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | members, help them to become good citizens, and help them to |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | develop the self-discipline they need to live healthy, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | drug-free lifestyles; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Red Ribbon Week is a national illegal drug |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | awareness campaign observed annually during the final week of |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | October; the popular event helps to educate and inform citizens |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | about the importance of illicit drug-use prevention at the local |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | level; approximately 80 million individuals across the country |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | participate in Red Ribbon Week each year; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, This important campaign is one of the Young |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Marines' primary annual events, and members of the Guadalupe |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Valley unit participate in numerous activities to promote the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | mission of Red Ribbon Week in their community; all who are taking |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | part in this educational event are indeed deserving of special |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | recognition; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby commend the members of the |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Guadalupe Valley Young Marines for their commitment to the fight |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | against illicit drugs and extend to them best wishes for a |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | successful and educational 2021 Red Ribbon Week; and, be it further |

| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for this |
