55 WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
66 passing of Carol Dee Baker Meyer of Longview on August 25, 2021,
77 at the age of 84; and
88 WHEREAS, The former Carol Baker was born to John and Agnes
99 Baker in Belleville, Michigan, on May 18, 1937; she graduated
1010 from Belleville High School in 1955, and the following year, she
1111 married Robert Meyer, with whom she shared a fulfilling union
1212 until his passing in 2006; they were blessed with three children,
1313 James, Kurt, and Erika, and with the passing years, their family
1414 grew to include five grandchildren, Emily, Carly, Jaime, Alisha,
1515 and Blaine, and five great-grandchildren, Journey Rae,
1616 Elizabeth, Alivia, Ainsley, and Eve; and
1717 WHEREAS, The Meyers moved to Longview in 1981, and
1818 Mrs. Meyer became involved in several local clubs and
1919 organizations, including the Longview Women's Forum, the
2020 Longview Chamber of Commerce, and the Longview Museum of Fine
2121 Arts; in 1999, she graduated from the physical therapist
2222 assistant program at Kilgore College and enjoyed working in
2323 various nursing homes until her retirement; and
2424 WHEREAS, Active in her community throughout her life,
2525 Mrs. Meyer volunteered with the House of Disciples Life
2626 Recovery Center, and she was a valued congregant of Trinity
2727 Episcopal Church in Marshall, where she was a member of the
2828 vestry and the Order of the Daughters of the King; in addition,
2929 she gave generously of her time and talents in support of the
3030 Republican Party; and
3131 WHEREAS, Those fortunate enough to have known Carol Meyer
3232 will remember the way she touched their lives with her warmth and
3333 kindness, and she will forever hold a treasured place in their
3434 hearts; now, therefore, be it
3535 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
3636 Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life
3737 of Carol Dee Baker Meyer and extend sincere condolences to all
3838 who mourn her passing; and, be it further
3939 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
4040 prepared for her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns
4141 this day, it do so in memory of Carol Meyer.
