5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the |
---|
6 | 6 | | passing of Carol Dee Baker Meyer of Longview on August 25, 2021, |
---|
7 | 7 | | at the age of 84; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The former Carol Baker was born to John and Agnes |
---|
9 | 9 | | Baker in Belleville, Michigan, on May 18, 1937; she graduated |
---|
10 | 10 | | from Belleville High School in 1955, and the following year, she |
---|
11 | 11 | | married Robert Meyer, with whom she shared a fulfilling union |
---|
12 | 12 | | until his passing in 2006; they were blessed with three children, |
---|
13 | 13 | | James, Kurt, and Erika, and with the passing years, their family |
---|
14 | 14 | | grew to include five grandchildren, Emily, Carly, Jaime, Alisha, |
---|
15 | 15 | | and Blaine, and five great-grandchildren, Journey Rae, |
---|
16 | 16 | | Elizabeth, Alivia, Ainsley, and Eve; and |
---|
17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, The Meyers moved to Longview in 1981, and |
---|
18 | 18 | | Mrs. Meyer became involved in several local clubs and |
---|
19 | 19 | | organizations, including the Longview Women's Forum, the |
---|
20 | 20 | | Longview Chamber of Commerce, and the Longview Museum of Fine |
---|
21 | 21 | | Arts; in 1999, she graduated from the physical therapist |
---|
22 | 22 | | assistant program at Kilgore College and enjoyed working in |
---|
23 | 23 | | various nursing homes until her retirement; and |
---|
24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Active in her community throughout her life, |
---|
25 | 25 | | Mrs. Meyer volunteered with the House of Disciples Life |
---|
26 | 26 | | Recovery Center, and she was a valued congregant of Trinity |
---|
27 | 27 | | Episcopal Church in Marshall, where she was a member of the |
---|
28 | 28 | | vestry and the Order of the Daughters of the King; in addition, |
---|
29 | 29 | | she gave generously of her time and talents in support of the |
---|
30 | 30 | | Republican Party; and |
---|
31 | 31 | | WHEREAS, Those fortunate enough to have known Carol Meyer |
---|
32 | 32 | | will remember the way she touched their lives with her warmth and |
---|
33 | 33 | | kindness, and she will forever hold a treasured place in their |
---|
34 | 34 | | hearts; now, therefore, be it |
---|
35 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th |
---|
36 | 36 | | Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the life |
---|
37 | 37 | | of Carol Dee Baker Meyer and extend sincere condolences to all |
---|
38 | 38 | | who mourn her passing; and, be it further |
---|
39 | 39 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be |
---|
40 | 40 | | prepared for her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns |
---|
41 | 41 | | this day, it do so in memory of Carol Meyer. |
