4+ SENATE RESOLUTION
55 WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever treasure their
66 memories of Ralph Edward Lewis of Gainesville, who died on
77 September 5, 2021, at the age of 74; and
88 WHEREAS, Ralph Lewis was born in Coffeyville, Kansas, on
99 September 30, 1946, to Garreth and Geraldine Lewis, and he grew
1010 up in Gainesville with three sisters, Connie, Shirley, and
1111 Phyllis; he shared a loving marriage with his wife, Dorthy, that
1212 spanned 46 years, and together they raised four children, Keith,
1313 Monty, Kristi, and Billie Kay; later in life, Mr. Lewis had the
1414 pleasure of seeing his family grow to include 12 grandchildren
1515 and 11 great-grandchildren; and
1616 WHEREAS, After graduating from Gainesville High School in
1717 1964, Mr. Lewis attended The University of Texas at Arlington,
1818 and in 1969, he went to work at Gainesville Foundry; he stayed
1919 with the company for his entire career, rising to become its
2020 owner, president, and general manager; and
2121 WHEREAS, A man of deep faith, Mr. Lewis was an active
2222 member of First Christian Church, and he served the congregation
2323 as chair of the board and several committees, as well as an elder,
2424 a hand bell ringer, and a vacation Bible school volunteer; and
25- WHEREAS, Ralph Lewis was a man of great integrity, empathy,
26- and determination, and he leaves behind a legacy of service to
27- others that will continue to inspire all those who had the
28- privilege of knowing him; now, therefore, be it
29- RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 87th
30- Legislature, 3rd Called Session, hereby pay tribute to the memory
31- of Ralph Edward Lewis and extend heartfelt sympathy to the
32- members of his family: to his wife, Dorthy Lewis; to his
33- children, Keith Fisher, Monty Fisher and his wife, Victoria,
34- Kristi Riddle and her husband, Brian, and Billie Kay Greene; to
35- his grandchildren, Lauren Bauer, Kendra Cheek, Patrick Fisher,
36- Ethan Fisher, Aiden Fisher, Ariana Fisher, Emily Pope, Neilson
37- Jones, Madeline Webb, Preston Jones, Brayzon Riddle, and Joey
38- Greene; to his great-grandchildren; to his sisters, Shirley
39- Weems and Phyllis Estes and her husband, Jerry; to his
40- sister-in-law, LaVena Moss, and his brother-in-law, Butch
41- Riddle; and to his other relatives and many friends; and, be it
42- further
25+ WHEREAS, Ralph Lewis was a man of great integrity,

29+ RESOLVED, That the Senate of the 87th Texas Legislature,
