| 6 | 11 | | relating to the composition of districts for the election of |
|---|
| 7 | 12 | | members of the Texas House of Representatives. |
|---|
| 8 | 13 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 9 | 14 | | SECTION 1. The purpose of this Act is to ensure the |
|---|
| 10 | 15 | | legislature has fulfilled its duty to apportion the state into |
|---|
| 11 | 16 | | representative districts at its first regular session after the |
|---|
| 12 | 17 | | publication of the Twenty-fourth Decennial Census of the United |
|---|
| 13 | 18 | | States, as provided by Section 28, Article III, Texas Constitution. |
|---|
| 14 | 19 | | SECTION 2. The districts used to elect members of the Texas |
|---|
| 15 | 20 | | House of Representatives in 2022, established by Chapter 1 (H.B. |
|---|
| 16 | 21 | | 1), Acts of the 87th Legislature, 3rd Called Session, 2021 |
|---|
| 17 | 22 | | (PLANH2316 in the Texas Legislature's redistricting system), are |
|---|
| 18 | 23 | | hereby ratified and adopted as the districts used to elect members |
|---|
| 19 | 24 | | of the Texas House of Representatives. |
|---|
| 20 | 25 | | SECTION 3. The districts described by Section 2 of this Act |
|---|
| 21 | 26 | | apply to the election of the members of the Texas House of |
|---|
| 22 | 27 | | Representatives beginning with the primary and general elections in |
|---|
| 23 | 28 | | 2024 for members of the 89th Legislature. This Act does not affect |
|---|
| 24 | 29 | | the membership or districts of the Texas House of Representatives |
|---|
| 25 | 30 | | of the 88th Texas Legislature. |
|---|
| 26 | 31 | | SECTION 4. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 27 | 32 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 28 | 33 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 29 | 34 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 30 | 35 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
